The fragrance Velours Boisé, meaning wooden velvet, takes its inspiration from the velvet that was used by Jacques Fath to create luxurious evening gowns. This heavy, warm, yet silky soft fabric feels instantly atmospheric, evoking a reassuring richness, pure inspiration for cozy winters spent by an open wood fire. Innovative perfumer Luca Maffei reflects on ‘winter holidays in my family house up in the mountains, drinking whisky and chatting with friends’…the idea to transfer a velvet sensation using sandalwood – the most  warm and enveloping of all woods with a milky character – together with a whisky accord for a cozy feeling…a creation like a soft embrace. 

Notes from the Playground

Velours Boisé by Jacques Fath fabricates its structure around voluptuous New Caledonia sandalwood, extremely warm and sweet with a rich woody aroma. Luminous bergamot seizes our attention, infused by spices, sharp cloves, elemi and nutmeg all fortified by rich notes of Davana and dried maté. This sharp, nutty opening slowly blends into a comforting, warm blanket of exquisite patchouli immortelle and aromatic whisky CO². The heart gradually emerges, as Armenian woods and balsamic guaiac wood add a smoky, cozy characteristic to the composition.
