Tubereuse by Le Galion is part of the ‘soliflore’ varieties, in which one flower gets the star treatment. In 1937 Paul Vacher signed a floral trilogy in which Tubereuse found its place between the very chic Iris and suave Jasmin. A provocative yet innocent-seeming flower behind a fruity veil of pear, spiced with a pinch of red berries like that hint of excitement at the prospect of a promising night. The pear and raspberry bring a fruity facet before things take a flower turn with rose and orange blossom. Tuberose reveals itself slowly, with a surprising lack of pretence. As hours pass it becomes creamier, it fills out a welcoming corsage of cedarwood, amber and a hint of musk.
